    Regulations on carrying lithium battery on flights
  • According to the Civil Aviation Industry of China Lithium Battery Aviation Transport Regulation (MH/T1020-2009) and relevant regulations such as the Hazardous Articles Aviation Transportation Regulations for Passengers and Crew (MH/T1030-2010), passengers carrying lithium batteries shall obey the following rules:

    1 The rated power of lithium-ion batteries shall be not more than 160 watt hours. Batteries exceeding this amount will be treated as dangerous goods in need of delivery services.

    2 Electronic devices (such as laptop computers, cameras, camcorders, etc.) including lithium batteries shall be sent per the following regulations.
    (1)May be placed in checked baggage or taken onto the aircraft.
    (2)Necessary protection measures shall be taken to avoid startup.
    (3)The rated power of lithium-ion batteries shall not be more than 100 watt hours.
    (4)Large lithium-ion batteries with 100~160 watt hours of rated power need to be approved by air carriers.

    3 Spare lithium batteries shall be carried or transported per the following regulations:
    (1)Size is appropriate for carry-on baggage.
    (2)Necessary protective measures shall be applied to each spare battery to prevent short circuiting, including placing spare batteries in original retail packaging, taping over exposed Terminals, or placing each battery into an individual plastic bag or a protective poach.
    (3)The rated power of lithium-ion batteries shall not be more than 100 watt hours.
