Border Inspection

    Outgoing and incoming passengers must submit valid passports or other exit/entry certificates at the Immigration checkpoint. An outgoing passenger is required to show a boarding pass and will be permitted to proceed onwards with approval by the Immigration checkpoint;

    Foreign passengers are required to fill in the Foreigner Exit and Entry Registration Cards. After completing inspection procedures, the Immigration checkpoint retains the Entry Registration Card and the passenger retains the Exit Registration Card. Foreign passengers holding a group visa to China are not required to fill in the Foreigner Exit and Entry Registration Card.

    Exit and Entry of mainland residents: A mainland resident going abroad should hold a valid passport and a visa issued by the destination country (except for visa-free countries); a mainland resident traveling to or returning from Hong Kong or Macau should hold a valid Exit and Entry Permit to and from Hong Kong and Macau and a valid visa; a mainland resident traveling to or returning from Taiwan should hold a valid Exit and Entry Permit to and from Taiwan and a valid visa; a mainland resident with a tourist visa (L visa) to Hong Kong, Macau or Taiwan shall proceed thru inspection together with their tourist group;

    Exit and Entry of Hong Kong and Macau residents: the Exit and Entry Inspection procedure is handled with a Returning Home Certificate for Compatriots from Hong Kong and Macau or a Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macau residents;

    Exit and Entry of Taiwan residents: the Exit and Entry inspection procedure is handled with a valid Mainland Travel Permit for Taiwan residents and a valid visa or residence permit.

    Incoming or outgoing foreign passengers, except those who are exempt from visas, should go through exit and entry inspection procedures with a valid Chinese visa (Permanent Residence Permits or Residence Permit);

    Passengers staying in China beyond time limits or needing to separate from a tourist group after entry for special reasons should go through relevant procedures with the exit and entry division of the local public security authority before exit;

  • 03

    A passenger who loses their passport in China after entry should apply for a new passport from the embassy (consulate) of their country in China and then go through relevant procedures with the exit and entry division of the local public security authority before exiting the country.
